Justin Lin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Casey, is the director of the upcoming American action movie F9, commonly known as Fast & Furious 9. It is the ninth major installment, the tenth full-length movie produced in the Fast & Furious franchise, and the follow-up to The Fate of the Furious (2017). Featuring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron, F9 is the first movie directed by Lin since Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and the first without a Chris Morgan script since 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003).
F9 was originally scheduled for worldwide release in April 2019, but was delayed several times, first due to the releases of Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and No Time to Die (2021), and then the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now officially scheduled to world premiere in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan on May 19, 2021, and is set to be released in the United States on June 25, 2021
