The Nun 3: Conjuring Universe

The Nun 3 (2025) expands the terrifying Conjuring Universe, bringing back Valak, the demonic nun, for another chilling installment. This time, the story is set in the early 1970s and follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), who once again faces the evil entity that continues to haunt the world of the living. After a series of strange deaths in a Romanian monastery, Irene is called back to confront the horror she thought she had vanquished.

The film begins with a disturbing event: a local priest is found dead, his body contorted in ways that defy logic. Villagers whisper that Valak has returned, and the Vatican calls Sister Irene to investigate. Reluctant to face the demon again, Irene teams up with Father Thomas (played by new cast member Oscar Isaac), a scholar of ancient texts who believes there’s a deeper connection between Valak and the Church.

As they delve into the mystery, Irene begins to experience nightmarish visions, with Valak tormenting her more intensely than ever. The duo discovers that Valak’s resurgence is linked to a dark, forgotten ritual that dates back to the early foundations of the Church. The key to stopping Valak lies within a cursed artifact hidden deep in the monastery’s catacombs—a relic that once belonged to a powerful exorcist who unsuccessfully tried to banish the demon centuries ago.

The tension escalates as Irene and Father Thomas race against time to retrieve the artifact, all while Valak terrorizes them at every turn. The atmosphere is filled with spine-chilling moments, from shadowy figures lurking in dark corridors to terrifying visions of the demon nun appearing out of nowhere.

In the climactic scene, Irene confronts Valak in the monastery’s catacombs, where she performs a sacred ritual to bind the demon. Just when it seems like Valak is defeated, the ending takes a shocking turn, hinting that the demon may have transferred into a new host, setting the stage for future installments in The Conjuring Universe.
