Citadel: Diana, an Italian spin-off of the global Citadel series, continues to expand the franchise’s spy-verse with a story packed with intrigue, revenge, and complex alliances. The series takes place in 2030, eight years after the destruction of the independent spy agency, Citadel, by its nemesis, the criminal syndicate Manticore. The plot revolves around Diana Cavalieri (played by Matilda De Angelis), a former Citadel agent who has been living as a mole within Manticore, working undercover to take down the very organization that infiltrated and dismantled Citadel
The trailer sets up Diana’s emotionally driven mission: she is determined to avenge the murder of her parents, believing Manticore was involved in their deaths. Trapped behind enemy lines, Diana navigates a deadly game of deception, surrounded by dangerous individuals who would not hesitate to eliminate her if her cover is blown. Her mission becomes even more precarious when she is forced to form an uneasy alliance with Edo Zani (Lorenzo Cervasio), the son of Manticore Italy’s leader, Ettore Zani (Maurizio Lombardi)
Edo, vying for control of Manticore against rival European crime families, becomes a key figure in Diana’s quest for justice. Though he is on the inside of Manticore, Edo is also seeking power and sees an opportunity in working with Diana. Their alliance is fraught with tension, as both characters have their own motivations and secrets, making trust a fragile commodity between them
The series promises to deliver the same high-octane action, espionage, and emotional drama that fans of the Citadel universe have come to expect. Diana’s quest for revenge is at the heart of the narrative, but the series also explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the dangerous consequences of undercover work. With stunning action sequences and intricate character dynamics, Citadel: Diana offers a thrilling continuation of the larger Citadel storyline, set against the unique backdrop of Italy’s criminal underworld
The six-episode series will premiere on Prime Video on October 10, 2024, providing another chapter in the ever-growing spy franchise created by the Russo brothers.
