DON’T MOVE follows a gripping horror-thriller plot that centers on a group of old friends, reunited after years of drifting apart. Olivia (Jessica Henwick), a trauma survivor, organizes the weekend getaway to an old estate in the woods, aiming to rekindle their connection and escape the pressures of everyday life. Her friends include Alex (Joe Keery), a cocky socialite; Nina (Sydney Sweeney), a carefree traveler; Ben (Jacob Elordi), an anxious tech worker; and Sophia (Tati Gabrielle), a level-headed med student.
The group’s night of bonding quickly turns terrifying when they discover a cursed artifact in the house’s basement—a black marble idol linked to an ancient ritual. The idol is engraved with one eerie command: Don’t move. Without knowing it, they activate a deadly curse when Olivia accidentally touches it. The curse unleashes a malevolent, invisible entity that stalks them, killing anyone who moves—even the slightest twitch is fatal.
Panic quickly sets in. The entity can detect movement but is blind to everything else, which forces the friends into tense situations where they must remain perfectly still. Even the smallest reflex or accidental jerk will lead to immediate death, and they have no idea how to stop it. One by one, the friends are eliminated as the group struggles to figure out the rules of their horrific new reality.
In a desperate attempt to survive, Ben tries to use his tech skills to find a solution, hacking into the house’s history and discovering that previous owners suffered similar fates. They learn that the entity can be temporarily blinded by darkness but only for a few seconds at a time, making escape nearly impossible.
As the night drags on, tension between the friends rises, pushing them to their breaking point. Old conflicts resurface, and trust crumbles as they are forced to rely on each other while fearing that any sudden movement could end their lives. Olivia, still dealing with the scars of her past trauma, must now face the ultimate challenge—can she keep calm and still long enough to outsmart the entity?
In the film’s final act, Olivia uncovers the key to defeating the entity, tied to her own tragic backstory, but not before the curse claims more victims. The survivors barely escape, forever haunted by the knowledge of what they witnessed and the curse that may never truly be broken.
