Avengers: Secret Wars begins with the multiverse in chaos following the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Multiple realities are collapsing into one another due to the reckless actions of Kang the Conqueror and the instability of the multiverse. Earth-616, the primary universe, is now on the verge of merging with several alternate dimensions, including realities where heroes and villains have very different destinies. The heroes, scattered across the multiverse, must find a way to stop this cataclysmic event before all realities are destroyed.
The story kicks off with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) sensing a disturbance in the multiverse, leading him to a mysterious, omnipotent being known as the Beyonder—a god-like entity who has the power to reshape reality itself. The Beyonder, fascinated by the various multiversal conflicts, creates a new battleground: Battleworld, a patchwork planet composed of different fragments of universes from across the multiverse. The Beyonder kidnaps both heroes and villains, forcing them into an epic war for survival on this world.
We see the return of familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and the recently returned Black Panther (Shuri, played by Letitia Wright). Alongside them, new faces emerge from the multiverse, including variants of beloved characters—most notably a younger, alternate version of Tony Stark/Iron Man (rumored to be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in a surprise multiversal return).
As the Avengers assemble on Battleworld, they quickly discover that the stakes are far higher than they initially believed. The Beyonder’s true goal is to test the morality and strength of each universe’s champions, intending to destroy the universes whose champions fail. The villains are led by Doctor Doom (potentially played by a new actor, rumored to be the MCU’s next big villain), who sees this as his opportunity to seize ultimate power.
In the heart of Battleworld, alliances are formed, rivalries reignited, and betrayals unfold as heroes and villains fight for survival. In a shocking twist, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) returns, but not as the villain—this time, he offers the Avengers a desperate alliance to stop the Beyonder from destroying the multiverse.
The teaser ends with an ominous shot of Battleworld engulfed in chaos, setting the stage for a multiversal war that will change the fate of the MCU forever.
